Heiner Goebbels

Heiner Goebbels is a German composer, musician, Director, theatre teacher and philosopher. One of the main characters of the contemporary scene. Since 1972 he studied sociology and music in Freiburg and Frankfurt. Played in various musical ensembles, wrote music for theatre and radio. Since the 1980-ies serves as a Director puts his own compositions for musical theatre, developing the genre of the concert stage. Creates audio and video installation.

Artistic Director of the theatre-music festival Ruhrtriennale (2012-2014). More than 20 years he taught theater arts at the Institute of applied theatre studies Giessen University (1999-2018), for twelve years was President of the theatre Academy Hessen (2006-2018). From 2012 to 2014 he held post of artistic Director of the Ruhr Triennale. In 2018 Goebbels was offered the position of Professor of the new Department name by Georg Buchner of Giessen University. Ustats Liebig. The Department was established on the basis of the interdisciplinary research centre ZMI – Centre for media and interactivity at Giessen.
