The legendary Alexandrinka, one of the most famous Russian theatres, opens its doors for the Day of the Theatre Project. This is a joint project of TASS and the Theatre Olympics 2019. It is dedicated to the Year of Theatre in Russia, and TASS serves as the official information partner of this event.
360° video projects, which are dedicated to popularizing the Russian culture, have become one of the new dimensions in the work of TASS. They allow to retain the cultural heritage of the country in the digital format and make it accessible to the audience from across Russia and the rest of the world.
The viewers will get a unique opportunity to study history and see one day in the life of the first public theatre of Russia, founded by state order of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1756.
The Day of Theatre Project crew visits places out-of-bounds to an ordinary viewer: watches stage designs and costumes being made, studies up close the work of makeup artists, visits rehearsals and watches performances in the wings. Each visitor will also learn about history and little known facts of theatre life. The virtual tour is complemented by quotes from actors, composers, lighting and costume designers — all those on whom the success of the show depends.
A tour around the Alexandrinsky Theatre has become a new chapter in the Day of the Theatre project. The first stop of the virtual journey was at Volkov Russian State Academic Drama Theatre in Yaroslavl. The agency plans to prepare tours around the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theatre in Saint Petersburg and the Novosibirsk State Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
