New stage of Alexandrinsky Theatre
A new stage of Alexandrinsky Theatre was opened in 2013 A unique and modern architectural complex of the New Stage was designed by St. Petersburg architect Yuri Zemtsov and built on the place where the workshops of the theatre had once stood, between Ploschad Ostrovskogo and Naberezhnaya Fontanki. The new stage is a multi-level structure with four auditoriums of different capacity equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, sound, video and media equipment. The new stage is not only a modern performance venue of Russia’s oldest drama theatres; it is also one of the main multidisciplinary culture and education centers of St. Petersburg.
